TALK MATHY TO ME

Just because I'm brown and nerdy. You won't find a nerdier nerd than me. I have this big brain; who needs big thighs. Why don't you just face it, I've got.my nerd groovin' on. And this is why I never write rap.

Something that blows my mind is E=MC2. This is an amazing fact.
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Do you actually understand what it means, though? Not just what the variables and constants are. Do you actually *understand* it?
krool1969
I do. It means that matter is a form of energy and that energy and matter are interchangeable. put enough energy into a given space (lots and lots of energy) and you will make pairs of particles. Matter and anti-mater. Conversely you can also liberate the energy found in matter. When two (or is it four, I can't remember) hydrogen atoms combine to form a helium atom the mass of the helium is less than the total moss of the hydrogen. The missing mass is the energy lost in the fusion process and it is that which makes the sun shine.
A really amazing historical fact: Humans learned to build airplanes about 10 years before we learned what makes the sun shine.
The bomb that destroyed Hiroshima liberated about 1/8 of a gram of matter (plutonium) before the rest was blown apart in the explosion. I can't remember how much plutonium was used but that is why there was so much radiation. The atomic bomb was barely a nuclear weapon. Mostly it was a dirty bomb.

Do you ever wonder how many "Einsteins" have been lost to history because they had the wrong sort of genitals (being girls) or there skin was too brown?
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
All too often, actually. All too often. Today monrning and yesterday, even.

Damn! Hell yeah, a science nerd! And this is why I ask; this is how I know who is worth my time to talk to xD because all I talk about is intellectual stuff; the other person must be competent xD How are you with chaos theory?
krool1969
I'm all over the map when it comes to Chaos Theory. Have you been watching the new Cosmos? Have you seen the original?
In the late 1890's most physicists would tell you that everything that needed to be discovered HAD been discovered. There would be no new major breakthroughs. I would have loved to ask one of them, "Yea, so what makes the sun shine for so long? We know the Earth (and sun) are much older than any known fuel supply could keep the sun burning. What about this weird thing with light. Why is it's speed always the same?
At least in the 1990's they knew better than to say "we know everything"
Most mind blowing discovery of the last 50 years? Astronomers wonder how fast the universe's expansion is slowing.
Sorry you do not want to get me going on science stuff.
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
No. I DO. PLEASE go on with your science stuff. And NO Laymanese allowed with me! I want the unabriged version! Oh how I WISH I can watch the Cosmos! I just don't have the time, nor is my laptop working—I cannot stand playing things on my phone. The old Cosmos was before my time, as I am the age I say I am—16 years old. I was a Cyberchase kid xD I remember coming home every day from school when I was in 1st grade and watching Cyberchase—was geared more towards the fourth and fifth grade level kids, but I understood a lot of it. I think, if it weren't for that show, I wouldn't have become an intellectual. I need to rewrite my featured story. It is obsolete (though about chaos theory)

I can't see your profile because you're a kid. I'd love to chat you up about science but you need to stay safe. NO PERSONAL INFORMATION EVER!
Do you like Carl Sagan?
Cosmos before your time? Cosmos is part of ALL time after 1980. Get your butt to the library and check it out. The book AND the DVD. The big illustrated volume is the best. You can send me a PM if you want, but remember NO PERSONAL INFO. not even e-mail. You can message me here.
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
xD of course lol And need to stay safe? hehe especially since this is EP. Maybe once summer vacation starts, I'll just sit down and watch every episode of it, because Sagan is da BOMB!
krool1969
Tyson ain't bad himself. But I do have a bone to pick with him. He was invited to spend the night at Sagan's house and he turned the man down.
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Whaaaaaaaaat????? Dammit, Tyson!
