Well, the anime DOES involve it. Axis Powers Hetalia involves world affairs during WWII for the most part, portrayed by incarnate versions of the countries. Germany's and Italy's characters live together in WWII, along with Japan (hence Axis powers).

Well it is hilarious, though. And I think you'd love Russia's character. He's cute on the outside, but "fucking terrifying" on the inside. But overall I don't think the style is your thing. Theme, maybe. Style? Probably not.

I know relatively little about anime. The only character I know is Yoko Ritona, because she has a really big rifle.

Well in that case, TRY Hetalia. The episodes are short, and you have to watch about 5 before you get into the hang of it. But at least watch the ones involving Russia, or a bunch of clips involving him. He's so wonderful lol

Let me just tell you about Hetalia.
Hetalia is an anime that involves personifications of countries. The first season generally takes place during WWII and Italy is living in Germany's house. There are two Italies represented. Southern Italy (the main Italy) and Northern Italy (referred to as Romano in the series). Germany and Italy are heavily implied to be in a relationship. Now reread my post :P
