Did you know that you just went another day *thinking* you didn't use algebra, even though you probably did?

Algebra isn't all about solving for x, you know. Instance, today I drove a car for the first time, but was wondering how much stopping distance I need for my current speed. Algebra right there. The other day, I didn't need a full batch of cookies (it made 48 cookies, but I only needed half of that), so I needed to halve the quantities to get the right proportion. Again. Technically algebra. I use math even when I'm supposedly not using math explicitly, and that's not because I'm me. People assume that just because you're not solving for x, means you're not using Algebra. Now while it can be said for parts of Calculus, you most certainly use Algebra on a near daily to daily basis, unless you live under a rock or something. :P

You really are a calculator I like that now i know im not on your level in terms of intellectual ability but I tell you what you do impress me.

Hahaha I wish I was one of those human calculators, but really, just half an hour back, I reached for mine to do 8+7+12+18. Well, it's more along the lines of I can calculate it, but I don't have enough short term memory for it. xD You should read some of my more recent experiences.

Lol wow I guessed 45 to your math problem by doing super quick math in my head and checked myself i know 8+2 is 10 so i just added 18 and 12 and immediately knew it was 30 so from there i added 8 instantly which is thirty eight and i know 8+7 is 15 so i came out with 45 in less than 3 seconds...i can do math like this quickly....but more complicated problems i need pencil and paper.

Or you can just let someone else do the work. As for breaking distance.....if you hit the car in front of you.....you went too far.

And I need to use algebra to avoid that :P
While I'm not gonna sit there and literally punch in the numbers, I know approximately how fast I'm going, and what my approximate acceleration rate will be, so I can give a good estimate of when I should start braking.
