Apparently there's this guy that has 63 first names, most of them nonsense. He holds the title for the longest name. BUT

I'm going to do something crazier. I'm going to get my name legally changed to... an equation. Oh, people would just call me Fractal. But it'd be some sort of calculus formula or something, for the title and to really show dedication to my love of math. "Excuse me, but where's the integral symbol on this sheet?"A guy, Robert Smith, is a physicist that changed his name to Robert Smith? with a question mark, to differentiate between he and other Robert Smiths. So you CAN put symbols in your name. I'm just wondering what my driver's license would look like. Then again, 63-word-long-name-guy would have an even worse problem. "You were speeding back there, Ms... um... er... this is fake, right? You've got to be kidding me."

fredcs
when people misspell your name, will you be wrong?
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
They can't "misspell" the name I legally change it to. They'd... get the formula wrong, I guess? xD
fredcs
what if they send you a letter and the postman can't tell the difference between your new name and your address?
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
I'm pretty sure 1234 Example St. looks vastly different than

fredcs
to a dyslexic postman? ;)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
If he's dyslexic, he shouldn't be a postman in the first place.
fredcs
You are against affirmative action? ;-)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
No it's not that. This is literally something that could prevent the postman from doing his job correctly significantly. Delivering a post to 9002 Example St instead of to 9020.

It's like having a blind person be a taxi driver.
fredcs
OK. so you aren't against affirmative action. You're against diversity? you do know of course that the blind taxi driver is far more likely to use "the road less traveled" right? :=)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
I'm not against diversity. A man with no fingers cannot give a fingerprint. Simple as that. When it comes to taxi driving, people won't want them to take the road less traveled. It's for safety and non-chaos purposes.

The severely deformed guy can go deliver postage. His deformity won't make it difficult to deliver it. But a dyslexic guy will certainly have trouble delivering papers. There are some sacrifices that need to be made in order to prevent chaos.
fredcs
you don't want fingerprints all over everything anyway do you? So a man without fingers is helping to keep things clean...

Wait a minute! You say that you love fractals, but you want to PREVENT chaos??? Isn't the math of fractals called Chaos mathematics? And you are willing to sacrifice all these people? That poor dyslexic postman? The blind taxi driver just trying to navigate his way thru life? How cruel! ;-)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
That's not the point. He has his place elsewhere.
There's a difference between the normal definition of chaos and *mathematical* chaos.
The dyslexic guy and blind taxi driver can find their way into another career where they're not risking normal chaos.
fredcs
You would turn the blind and the dyslexic from the career paths they have chosen? These jobs define them! Who will they be if you turn them away? I suppose the blind guy COULD sit on a street corner and sell pencils, but you know that the markup margin for pencils is not what it used to be. Most people jot things down in their smart phones these days, so his market has shrunk to almost nothing. How is he supposed to support his 5 kids? His loving wife? Do you know his goldfish are floating on the top of the water in their goldfish bowl as we speak? all because he can't drive a taxi because you want to avoid fractals... I mean Chaos! I suppose the dyslexic guy COULD become a politician... Hmm, wait a minute; that might result in an improvement in American politics... Fine! OK! Go ahead and change your name to a formula! If you want to live a formulaic life be my guest! (not literally, I don't have that much room in my apartment.) Happy 4th of July... ;-)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
The blind guy could easily be, say, a fireman (if we're staying along those lines). He could easily train himself to face towards the heat by feeling which direction the heat is coming from. The blind man needs to get surgery done before he even has a chance to drive. Think about it. Would YOU want to be in a taxi with a blind man during rush hour traffic down the high way? NO! It's physically impossible for him to do so! The dyslexic guy could easily spend his life in the art or entertainment industry--anything that doesn't involve reading and getting half of the letters mixed up everywhere.

You're still not understanding how there is a *vast* difference between mathematical chaos, and chaos in say, a kindergarten classroom without a supervisor to look after them.
fredcs
so, now the kindergarten classroom has a supervisor? what happened to the teacher? I supposed she was fired because she was dyslexic? or was she blind? your getting me all discombobulated!!!if you want a nice long name why don't you try: antidisestablishmentarianist. it has many advantages: you will be near the beginning of the alphabet, it sounds chaotic, many people will misspell it (you have my permission to hit them), and you will be getting the most out of the free engraving when you buy a bracelet...
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
You don't need a teacher to supervise a classroom. I've been put in charge of a group of kindergartners, and I'm not a teacher.
fredcs
You displaced the teacher? so what is she doing now? on the street competing with the poor blind ex-taxi driver trying to sell pencils? All so you could make a few bucks "supervising" a classroom. *tsk tsk* So, What did these children learn from your "supervision"? Did you all sit around and sing Pink Floyd songs? I suppose there was "No dark sarcasm in the classroom ..."
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
I'm just implying that anyone could have been in charge.
fredcs
If anyone could be in charge, the kids could be in charge of themselves. that would lead to self determination, which of course would lead to Chaos...
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Yes, but not MATHEMATICAL chaos.
fredcs
kids as statistics. Statistics gone wild. numbers gone wild... There's a difference? ;+)> (you DO know I'm teasing you, right?)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Eh it's still fun to argue :P
fredcs
if we lived together, we'd get along so well... up to the point that we killed each other. :)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
xDDD I wish you were my father. My father is financially supportive, and that's about it. xD
