If compassion makes the world better.. why does it make you an easy prey?

Sometimes I wonder if I preffer to be cold hearted but painless.. I'm sick of having those I love the most take advantage and destroy my inner core with the things they know how to use against me.. how can you claim to love someone when you are willing to use guilt and verbal abuse against them?

Worse part is.. why do I still care?

too many questions I know.. but damn!! I'm just sick of this compassion making me too human to get rid of what hurts me the most..

because not every person is worthy of compassion. There are those who struggle and compassion can assure a better future for them. Then again, there are others who condemn themselves by their actions and choices. When you exert compassion, you leave yourself vulnerable, because a lot of it is also trust. You can't trust everyone.
