If a person owns a piece of land do they own it all the way down to the core of the earth?

How can anyone claim to own part of the planet ? but that is a good point Bugsy, if it is just the surface then it could be dug up and dumped in the sea, then that person could spend the rest of their life swimming around trying to find it !!!
