Would it be a terrible idea to use Facebook to reveal to my family the fact that I'm an atheist?

My family is predominantly Christian; I'm sure there are a few others that are atheists as well, but I've never actually heard one of them say that they didn't believe in god. I think only a few would have serious issues with it, but I could be wrong about that. And the main reason for which this option is attractive to me is that I tend to get extremely nervous and anxious when I try to talk about these sorts of things... And anyone's welcome to answer this, whether you're an atheist or not.

If it makes you nervous talking about it why don't you wait a little. Is there a big rush for you to tell them?

Well, it will probably always make me nervous to talk about it - that is, unless I start talking about it more, and I don't have anyone to talk to about it. And, no, there isn't really a big rush. I just feel like I would ultimately feel better if I wasn't hiding it.

I think I know how you feel. It took me many years to tell my mom I was Pagan so I can relate. I wish you the best.
