We often worry that our lives may be meaningless, but why don't we ever worry that nonhuman lives may be meaningless?

Or ever give it any thought at all, for that matter? How is it acceptable to throngs of humans that we alone should have souls and survive death, that every nonhuman living thing (animals, insects, and microbes alike--hell, why not plants, too, while we're at it; and all that other stuff, of course) must be soulless and perishable? Why is it perfectly okay for their lives to meaningless and not ours?

Who taught you that...? It's not a belief that everyone shares.

I think you may have misunderstood me. Did you think I said everyone believes nonhuman lives to be meaningless?

You used the collective term "we", so I understood that is what you intended me too think. Do you mean you are questioning that is what some people believe?

Ah, I see what you mean. You're right. I was generalizing in that instance.

AH .... I understand you better now.
I don't think that way, never have and I have never considered my life meaningless, so mayhaps I have nothing to contribute to your question?
Glad you took the time to explain, ty.
