I take everyone as genuine. Even the ones who lie are real. The only ones I don't accept at face value are the ones who get several different accounts aimed at attacking other members. And I don't accept them, because I dislike what they do, but they are genuine. Genuinely rotten, but genuine.
I know I will get objections about saying even liars are real. But bear with me here. They are real. Even the lies the tell are real. As long as they aren't lying about someone else, their lies don't matter. And if you can follow them closely enough, eventually all those lies paint a true picture of the real person.
I've known compulsive liars in my real world, and once I got past the anger at being lied to, I was able to follow the path of the lies and see the truth the lies were hiding.
