Do people who sleepwalk sometimes never outgrow it?

My first husband was a sleepwalker. He would get upset looking for "the thing" (never found out what it was) and eventually I learned that if I said "It's ok, I found it, it is in the kitchen ready for morning" he would settle back down and go to sleep.
