This, in my view, is possible, but very rare. If everyone around me was certain I was wrong, I would go to great lengths to check the facts - the proof via the peer reviewed research of experts and via logic. If its just an opinion based on something unprovable, I would look at the effects of holding that view and whether they were universally beneficial to all concerned.
