How do you tell your mom and dad that you are not interested in religious activities any more ?

I really have very hard times telling them this because it breaks their hearts in return mine too

my real religious views i dont express often because people of all sorts judge and misunderstand. that includes my family. one side is baptist, the other catholic. so i just dont discuss my views with them. ill even go to church on occasion. that doesnt happen often for me, im just not geographically close to them. but i go with them when it comes up. if its more of a constant thing with you i would devise a plan that wouldnt allow you to attend with them. maybe job restrictions that if you do it, you could get a promotion!! and create some way to limit how often you go to religious functions then you can phase it out over time so you dont have to go at all. and no one gets hurt!

At your age, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I would tell them that I couldn't reconcile the accepted divine attribution of omniscience with any of the Talmudic history and dogma, and therefore am having to re-establish the parameters of my religious activity. While they were standing there staring at me with their mouths open and glazed eyes, I would simply back out of the room.

It's hard but it's better to be honest. Will they disown you?

no. but i don't want them to be sad about me on this matter
