Is there a name for people who believe in God, but don't believe in Jesus or that Jesus was the Son of God?

PinksWoman
I am a Gnostic and believes everyone know and speaks with god on an individual level, there I have no need to name her nor for any of the trappings of the church

Thank you for that insight into Gnosticism.
PinksWoman
Thank you, Gnosticism dates back to the tenth century and the Knights Templar were Gnostics, naturally the christian church tried to wipe them out
GailG3
Actually, gnosticism as it is understood today dates back to the first century. But it's actually much older than that - coming from some pagan traditions. I believe that if Jesus' teachings were actually studied by Christians, that christians would turn away from their fundamentalist hate and become gnostics.

Are you serious noone answered this question correctly the simple answer to your question is Theists.Anyone who believes in any god is a Theist
calicuz · 51-55, M
Thank you, there was actually one who answered "Theist" when I first posted this question, but apparently that individual has deleted their account and their answer has gone with them. So guess what? You are now the new recipient of "Best Answer". :)

Non Messianic Jews don't... A lot of Neo-Pagans don't... But many religions now accept Jesus into their pantheon in one way or another
Kentex
As a great prophet right? As opposed to messiah?
HuntLeader1990
Hmmm... some Hindus see him as an avatar of God, some Buddhist see him as a Buddha, Muslims see him as the Messiah (which does not mean Son of God, so they don't believe that), Bahai see him as a Manifestation of God, and some Zoroastrians see him as Saoshyant, who is a Messianic figure who will come to Earth at the End of Days to bring about a final peace and help banish Evil
CarlaW
Agreed. Historians cannot fail to believe 'JESUS' existed.
FurryFace
doesn't matter , if you have one then you have the other also , the Father will bring you his son , and the son his Father
calicuz · 51-55, M
Yes, but there are those that believe in God, but don't believe that Christ was the Son of God. I believe "TheMightyIosif" had the right answer.
CarlaW
Yes many. There are too many religions to list. Christianity is the only one that contains Jesus, The Christ. Just search Non Christian Faiths.
Marisa21
Another term I have seen used is Deist. Meaning belief in a creator being not necessarily the christian god
calicuz · 51-55, M
Yes, Deists believe that God created the universe then abandoned it to leave mankind to fend for himself. They don't believe He has anything to do with it now.
Monkeylust
Many names, if fact. Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Zoroastrians, Deists, Bokononists, to name just a few.
heavensmissinanangel
Only Christians believe in Jesus and muslims believe he was a prophet. I don't think the other religions do.
