I think you can't really expect anything else... We feed our livestock growth hormone, we genetically alter our produce to make them bigger...and then we absorb those same things when we eat the byproducts...
Additionally, we dump every sort of chemical into our water supply, not only by what we put in the water, but by what we put in the air as well...and then we think that somehow we will come out of it okay.
And we call it progress.
