More like I feel sorry for what supporters he does have. His perceived popularity is being gleaned from primary results, in which many people aren't even allowed to vote, like independents in many states. The most recent nationwide polls have him trailing perspective democratic foes by a considerable margin. As hard as it might be to believe when you live in an echo-chamber, he's not as popular as he seems.

Also, I don't like him. He's vulgar, undiplomatic, and lies brazenly. I know pretty much all politicians lie, but Trump does it so openly and unabashedly that it's particularly offensive, even among politicians.

He's not popular with the American people. He has a cult of personality, but it's heavily outnumbered by the people who perceive him as the obnoxious charlatan that he is.
