Putin is bombing America's allies in Syria. Is Obama responding appropriately?

It is a disgrace how he is failing to respond. Putin knows he can easily get away with it because it is clear that Obama doesn't care about US national interests.

Well, first you are being generous calling them "allies". Secondly, what would you do that wouldn't make things worse. Thirdly, what "national interests'. The Cheney administration created this mess for no reason that had to do with our national interests.
This mess began in 2011, well into Obama's presidency.

Sorry, but the regional instability began with the invasion of Iraq by the War Criminals Bush/Cheney. Every crappy thing that has followed since can trace its roots back to that enterprise.
There was no "regional stability" prior to the Bush presidency. And the "War Criminal" rhetoric is total BS.

Ffs the guy can't win. When he intervenes internationally it's "take care of your own backyard dur hur" and if he doesn't he's a weak lame duck. You guys take the fucking cake when it comes to illogical stupidity

I really don't think Syria is an important national interest. If Obama isn't willing to keep troops in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, why should we get into a shooting war with Russia?
Putin respects strength. If we had a President who would demonstrate some, he would make the necessary adjustments because he knows his military is no match for ours.
Syria matters to the US because it is against our national interest for a radical Islamist caliphate to take root in the Middle East. The reason we see this upsurge in violence by Islamists all over the world, including the West, is because Obama's unwillingness to destroy Islamic State has caused the innumerable Islamic fanatics to believe that now is the time appointed by Allah for Muslims to slaughter the infidels.

"Putin respects strength. If we had a President who would demonstrate some, he would make the necessary adjustments because he knows his military is no match for ours."

First of all, we DON'T have a president who knows how to "demonstrate strength."

And second, please don't suggest Obama could learn how in the next 16 months. Because I don't trust him in charge of our nation's military, which he has gutted.

Yes, "Obama's unwillingness to destroy Islamic State" has emboldened "innumerable Islamic fanatics." Hopefully, Russian bombs and missiles will kill a good many of them.

Putin is trying to prop up Assad. In the end he will fail unless he takes out quite a number of those fanatics that Obama has failed to do.

Would you start a war with Russia? You will vote for Trump, right? He's doing something about it Obama just didn't see the need to tell you.
I don't think Trump has any business in the presidential race. I think we should privately inform Putin and Assad that every time Putin bombs our allies, we will bomb Assad twice as hard, and back that up.
SirTrengo
you are much confused. america doesn't really care for syria or syrians.
SNOWD0N
We mostly care about having a figurehead in the region to do business with.
SirTrengo
not even that.

Russia wants a confrontation && war is not good {

What would you do?
I think we should privately inform Putin and Assad that every time Putin bombs our allies, we will bomb Assad twice as hard, and back that up.

An interesting idea. One wonders what the Russian response would be.
