Obama offended the Chinese by chewing gum at a diplomatic ceremony--isn't he an immature jerk?

It is especially disrespectful in Chinese culture to be seen chewing gum. But even in American culture chewing gum at a solemn occasion is considered juvenile, unclassy behavior.
