I think time is the best teacher, I also believe there are numerous stages of wisdom, and that it may come at a sizable price for some individuals who didn't already have an understanding of what they were dealing with, thus they had to learn a lesson, but as with so many other things different people are good at different things and some just happen to exceed at seeing past many of life's challenges so these people could be called wise whilst the more naive and the gullible need first to experience it to know what it is like.
