Why can't my mom accept the fact that I'm an Atheist?

Both of my parents are Christians, but at the very least, my father accepts science. My mother on the other hand is a total creationist that pretty much learned everything from the bible (I think she may have attended a Catholic school when she was a kid, which would definitely make more sense).Ever since I told her that I was an Atheist, she's been all like: "That's why you're the way you are! That's why you have all of your problems in life!" She also asks: "How did those trees get there then? They didn't get there by themselves!"But the minute I mention evolution to her, she denies it. Hell, when I mentioned the dinosaurs, my mom said to my father: "I didn't know the dinosaurs existed. I thought that was a myth."Then on my birthday, my mom said: "You need to believe in God to learn how to tolerate others".God, Christianity, the bible, and religion are the polar opposite of ANY sort of tolerance AT ALL, and the bloody history behind it is proof of that.

I'm in the same boat, except my father isn't accepting.
It's extremely frustrating. I haven't outright told my dad yet, but a few months ago I told him that Jesus probably wasn't white with blonde hair-blue-eyes and he flipped out. So I'm putting off the news of my religion till I move out.
I don't know your situation. But some people just need to live blindly to be happy, which means other people need to bite their tongue.
