An ideal relationship the man always leaves the woman better than he found her. That way he can always ask for her help in the future. But those men are rare. That kind of man is Boss. Most men do not inspire to live up to those standards.

If he gave her money with instructions and a task. That is when it is productive. Example if a man handled every one in his life with work in mind. He might over pay one girlfriend to check on rental property with a check list. He then might give her instructions to take certain classes or live in a certain place. Long after he is no longer dating her he could still always ask her for anything because he helped her reach goals.

Similar to what you said happened to me.... I was in relationship with a great girl that ended 5 years ago..... In addition to helping her in several occasions, I used to ask her to pay my credit card bill, my cargo after I left Dubai and other stuff.... Now, I still help her and buy her gifts.... I buy online and have them shipped to her.... Last gifts I bought her was (were) dresses for her and her 17 years old daughter for her brothers wedding last November.... Also a gift for her mom and shoes for her daughter and son.... Before that also I bought her BB Z10....
Our relationship was meant to end, yet the connection is still there :)

That is smart. I feel like people that I knew a long time should be helpful. Being a good friend to some one over a long stretch of time for them to stab you in the back can make their existence on Earth seem useless.
