Should the American citizenry give President Obama "some space" as he seems to have asked Prime Minister Medvedev?

Speaking next to a microphone they thought was not live, President Obama and Prime Minister Medvedev had an illuminating discussion this morning in which Obama asked Russia to "give me some space," because he had an election he had to win, after which, he implied, he could acquiesce to Russia's concerns and threats regarding the building of a defensive missile shield over Western Europe. I say lets give Obama all the space he can stand -- space anywhere in the US but in the White House.
