I'm not really offended, as long as you leave me alone and don't treat me rudely. Why would I care what race or religion you are? That's your choice, and even though it's different from mine, I completely respect it.

Hm. Weird. Must be a hostile environment over all, since usually white people are just left alone (I'm saying this as a white person living in the south though, so my experience may be biased).
Anywho, the Christian/Republican "hate" is probably because a lot of Christians and right wings have been pretty scary since the legalization of gay marriage.
In my area one guy went and killed some people for being gay, some couples killed themselves to make a point, places are refusing service to gays, and that man in Lafayette was a huge supporter of Westboro and snuck into a theatre, shot 7 people (last I heard anyways) because he wanted to punish the country for letting gays live. Oh! And some guy who always rants in a car on youtube pulled out a gun and said he was going to start doing stuff with it against several groups, one of which was gays. I forget his name, but he's pretty popular.
Not to mention it gets pretty personal, too. A man who sits behind me at college went on a big rant about how he used to be in the army and he wasn't scared to start killing non-Christians. It was pretty intense (he was a big dude, and I'm a skinny, short girl).
Sorry for typing so much! Just felt relevant, I guess. Anyways, I know not all Christians and right wings are like this, but... the hate is probably because people are getting a little scared, and humans do and say awful things when they're afraid. Doesn't make it ok, but at least I understand why.
