I think one may have trouble finding a correlation. Many of the examples you could think of would fall under the false dichotomy fallacy. That is a common fallacy for the black-and-white thinking he articulated in that quote.

I think statements like, and including this one which are over simplifications of life come across as tautologies. Even the word choice is opaque. When he says poverty as in economic wealth , spiritual wealth or emotional wealth (I think he means spiritual based on his background).

Looking for a common dominator, theme or way to simplify something that may have shades of grey is always a reasonable strategy for group discussions but in this case I bet if we put our heads together we could make a list of famous people who are brash and inwardly and not spiritually lacking.
