Why is their always this mix up about gravity and what is so great about knowing about it?

Scientifically gravity only pulls. As suction implies that there is a power we can avoid from being held down. Pulling however suggests that gravity has a strong hold possibly enveloping us and holding us to the earth so that we dont drift off into space and suffocate from lack of oxygen. My question however has always been this. If Sir Isaac Newton hadn't discovered gravity and what it meant and how crucial it was to our life. Would we be any more affected by not know as we are today by actually knowing. Same with a lot of things like oxygen. If it hadn't been discovered would we be bothered because i certainly wouldnt be. Some things discovered just dont matter as we don't constantly talk about or have issues or lack of oxygen and gravity however there is always someone who is struggling with how much electricity they have. Others like electricity are important.

If people didn't understand gravity and how it works, there would still be no airplanes.

@Serenitree: That's Bernoulli's principle of lifT

@JoanieNewHampshire: so, no need to know about gravity, before learning principle of lift? How could they know there was a need to know the principle of lift, if there was no understanding of gravity?

Because lift occurres ignorant of gravity! We knew we couldn't fly. When we discover the ability to create sufficient lift we flew@Serenitree:

@Serenitree: This is a fair point yet as we we're smarter back in the day I'm sure even without knowing about or understanding gravity we would have been able to work out how to make the panes work.
Exactly! @Abandoned95:
Icoris new nothing of gravity nor the heat of the sun. Just the design of a birds wing. @Serenitree:

@Abandoned95: I'm no scientist, so I won't debate this issue. I don't understand it enough to make an informed statement. I can only say, without gravity there would be no need for lift. Although I can understand what you mean about discovering the principle of lift, without knowing about gravity, I don't really feel it. A willing mind, but a stubborn gut.

@Serenitree: that's it! You don't need to know gravity! But you need to know lift!
The difference is in these to questions.

1.) what makes a plane fly?

2.) what makes a plane fall?

The first is more important then the second.

I appreciate your in put. I just love having these sciency discussions coz I am brighter that most people in my generation. They're all talking about Netflix and chill and I'm over here like knowledge and skill! @Serenitree:
I enjoy seeing people think rather then watch@Abandoned95:

i prefer to learn. I fucking LOVE! my science @JoanieNewHampshire:
I hope you practice safe science!@Abandoned95:

oh. Well I'm more of a theoretical scientist. I like to think about theories and try to see if there is a way of changing the social paradigms @JoanieNewHampshire:
@Abandoned95: I have a few social paradigms I'd love for you to change!
Abandoned95 · 26-30
ok. Pm me and we can talk @JoanieNewHampshire:
Serenitree · F
@JoanieNewHampshire: If you're in the plane when it's falling, I believe the second matters a great deal......not that there's time to wish you'd thought more about it before going up. 😂

Well yeah but my point still stands. For example if no one gave you the understanding of the internet would you still be able to work out how to use it to do something you wanted to do? @Serenitree:
Serenitree · F
@Abandoned95: at my age? No. I still need a tutorial for each new thing I try. But I get your point.

thank you. And I doubt you're that old going off your level of understanding of the notion at hand I would say you couldn't be older than 30. @Serenitree:

@Abandoned95: thanks, but my first grandson will be 35 in July.
