Do you think that technogy and social media are the reason for most the problems in the world?

Technogly has done a lot of good, I understand that but do you think that we are too connected and that some social media have lead to the "mob mentality" making it harder for those who disagree on any one thing to voice their thoughts without being "jumped" by others who just go with what the majority thinks.
No. It has caused some problems and complicated others, but I don't think they're the cause for "most" problems.

Human greed and and lack of understanding and acceptance of eachother might take the cake for "cause of most problems".
The problem you mentioned definitely exists and needs a solution though. Our inability to disagree and discuss without starting shit is as old as humanity, and social media has been a double edged sword thrown in the mix.
I think technology is growing faster than our ability to use it responsibly. :p

I like that answer! I also agree to a point. Some people would argue that human greed is also a double edged sword because though out history great men ("or women" for people who are easily offended lol) have thrived for the forbidden/impossible which lead to huge advances for all of us. I understand some of them did some bad things but over all we as humans advanced beyond our wildest dreams because of our greed and curiously.

Having said all of that I think that we are at a point where we are so connected and monitored that we can't express our true selves without instantly having millions of people hating on you. I think that stopping people from doing anything new or different from the "normal" which leads to... hate

It's an excellent and thought provocative question. One that I'm not intelligent enough to answer in any sort of meaningful way.

@NigelDoes: we live in a world where everyone thinks they know they answer to everything and even if they don't know it.. they are willing to quickly google it and give a quick answer (and look like a fool) then accept that they don't know and learn or question and till they understand.

I guess your answer says some thing about you ;)

Anybody who uses this technology as a convenience and ignores the surveillance state which is invading their privacy every single day illegaly knows nothing about freedom. Their willful ignorance to a growing police state puts everybody at risk.

The individual free thinker who questions what some see as normal is the one who is truly free. Those under this hypnotic group thought mentality who follow blindly and willingly acquiesce to a government police state which uses technology under the guise of goodness to control minds and lives, these people have no idea about living but rather just exist.

Google, facebook, twitter all use mechanisms to control, manipulate and shape thought. These devices are the modern day brown shirts and propagandists of our times. People who are addicted to these tools of ignorance are clueless.

You live under a soft glove post Constitutional tyranny with a bloated federal government craving more power. The useful idiots who give up their individual freedoms to this tyranny so easily and willingly will eventually destroy freedom for all.

No. I think greed is more the cause.
They're not the "reason"; that mob mentality has always existed. In the past it meant literal mobs showing up at one's door with a rope or tar and feathers.
Curiousguy833 · 31-35, M
I agree, the mob mentality has always existed but back in the days it was not too much of a problem because people were to afraid to express their thoughts too much because they didn't know if other people felt the same way and was scared people would turn THEM.

However because of Technology and social media (mainly) people are not scared to express their dark side and also its easier to get into the mob mentality when you think your anonymous.

Also going into the future, am starting to see the raise of "fake news/information" where it's hard to tell if that's true and what's fake..
