I work in IT and I've managed wireless phones and devices for three different companies as part of my job duties. The answer to this is very simple:

Use what works for you.

I'm sure that's not the answer you want to hear but that's the best answer I can give you. If you want a device that "just works" without the need to worry about knowing how it works, get an Apple device.

If you would like to have a device where your options are a little more open but still want to have a larger company holding your hand, go with an android phone provided by a provider.

If you want a phone that is yours that you can do everything you want to without a company telling you what you can/cant do, get a Google phone.

Each one has their advantages and each one has their disadvantages. You'll just need to research them, find the one that has all the features you want and go with that.
