what do you think about ad tracking?

does it bother you at all that your shopping trends are being monitored?
it doesn't really bother me. but sometimes i get annoyed.
its a feature one can easily turn off.

I have my own website where I placed a couple of ads that monitor the activities of users (monitoring is being done by Google not me). the thing is if I disabled the personalize ads which track the user activities, you will see irrelevent ads. If I turned the ads down, my site doesn't have any income. so check and click on some of the ads on the site where you go to support the website owners, it's least you can do to keep them going, otherwise the site won't have any income to pay the bills (domain, server cost, software cost etc..)

And then maybe they will go broke and the world will be a better place. Consumerism is killing us.

@hunkalove: yeah they will probably go broke, then you will have a hard time of finding certain information. nowadays you can find anything from google due to the ad revenue that web owners generate from their websites. you take the knowledge from their websites, and they get your clicks which turn into money. It doesn't really violate your privacy, because google never shows any information which can be used to identify users in individual level.

Hopefully, people will use the Internet less and live in the real world more.

but its hard to shop in the real world. where the average woman is a size 16 (like me) but the average 16 clothes is made for women who are in their 50's. it makes it harder to shop if you're curvy but only from the waist down.
i prefer shopping online. its much easier.

@Tristemuneca: Just wait'll you buy the wrong thing and the Gestapo beats down your door.

If you use an incognito mode or stealth mode on your browser, you dont get the ads. That doesnt stop your ISPs from tracking your browsing habits and, thanks to the Republicans in Congress, selling them to buyers. So yea, everyone's going to know how much porn you watch and what you've bought on Amazon.

😐they're gonna know how lame i am that i don't watch porn lol

but i do shop a lot on amazon. lol

@Tristemuneca: NO PORN?! 😲 Need me to come over and load your browser up with some? 😂
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
@Reboot: hahahahaha thanks its not necessary, i don't have a need for it lol my husband keeps me pretty busy.

Somehow I doubt it can be avoided. Even the grocery store does that.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
maybe that's why i keep getting ads for maternity clothes
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F

@Tristemuneca: virtual private network. if you are on android install vpn from google play which has good rating. It hides you from your internet service provider.

@samdx008: 'For the moment.' Any service able to keep out front of the deep pockets of powerful ISP providers will be worth a fee very soon. The latch has been removed from the henhouse door.
