I suspect there are billions out there.

And some animals are pretty smart!

The entire Universe.
@JoyfulSilence something new would be nice. However that is doubtful

Well, life arose quickly in Earth's history, and the ingredients of life are common. So it seems likely it has arisen elsewhere, in some form, in many places and times.

Yet this is simple life like viruses, organelles, and simple cells. More complex life may be more rare. And then you need intelligent life, and technologically advanced life, and spacefaring life

Yet some argue that if a spacefaring civilization had already arisen in the galaxy, it should have spread by now to fill it. So where are they?

Others counter saying perhaps that means space travel is hard, or such civilizations self-destruct. Or maybe we are just ignored?

It is the scientific community, not just one person. I am no authority and do not read much, but I watch podcasts, like Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson, who has on experts.

Nothing is fantasy or misinformation, it seems. Just real scientific debate grounded in reality.

Tyson also talks about black holes. 😁
