Could a self driving car be programmed to attack?

Thinking of of the old movie Christine. Someone could possibly do that. Even fleets of cars or autonomous semis could be taken over.

There are safeguards in the software to prevent such a thing, and they cannot be overridden by hackers because there are multiple functions acting independently of each other, and any one of them can veto a potentially harmful action.

There are however some other potentially dangerous things a rogue car can do.
