Cleaner Air Well Here Is A No Brainer

I have just been discussing air pollution on another site and travel etc when it hit me .
All these governments want cleaner air , less pollution and electric cars etc .
I had to ask why the hell have we got so many lorries clogging our road system when rail is cleaner more efficient and in the long run so much cheaper .One train can pull nearly 30 to 50 goods cars rather than 30 to 50 lorries to transport the same load .It has to be far more expensive to fill up all those lorries and wear and tear than one goods train .Yes it would cost to put in the infrasructure but in a very short time would pay for itself and it would then cost less therefore making our goods cheaper .It would be a win all round .So why the hell isnt a simple thing like this that would make such a huge difference happening ?

They do that here in Britain already.Lorries are often still needed for the final leg of the journey to warehouses though.
Gas boilers in homes will be replaced with electric heat pumps to reduce pollution. All new cars will be electric from 2035.New power stations will be nuclear or renewable energy such as wind power.Carbon neutral by 2050.

@tallpowerhouseblonde No they dont girl all our goods come on lorries .From ports lorries pick up containers going all round the country and the same from europe .
As for power it will never happen not in our life time .At the moment we only have at most 10 perent of our energy is clean sources .
To make it 100 percent in 14 years wont happen , the infrastructure alone will cost trillions and many many years to build .
Fossil fuels and cars trucks and lorries are gonna be around for years to come .
Dont believe everything you are told it wont happen , same as alot of promises the government make .Borises heart is in the right place but his time lines and costs are cloud cuckoo land its just not realistic .

@Rhodesianman UK generate 44.6% of its energy from renewables right now.The locations for new nuclear reactors is being decided on and funding looked into.I have faith that much will be achieved. There is even electric plane engines in development to replace one on 4 engined planes.

@tallpowerhouseblonde Their are talking funding being organised their not even planning yet and as usual by the time they start it will be behind schedule and will be over budget and take forever to finish its the british way . Like the second dartford tunnel or the lorry parks they are still building or the new railline to the north late by years over budget to the tune of billions and still not finsihed .How about all the new railstock ordered many years ago now and only one has arrived and no one knows if or when the rest will arrive .It wont happen .Oh and the electric engine you talk about , the prototype hasnt been built yet its still in planing , I should know I asked my brother who designed the new air bus and is also involved in the new generation plans their years away from development .

@Rhodesianman I actually agree with you here.HS2 costs are astronomical.
