Community warning in light of Google/Apple recent covid19 app installs.

They are not giving you a choice with this! It's automatically downloaded without permission.

Please also check your Apps and settings both. I can only show what was on my device and it could have only happened recently when I briefly enabled play store.

This is on an Android. Consult the lastest news on Apple devices.

The following involves tracking rather than covid19 apps yet I don't want any such apps on my device.

Go to security and location in your settings:

Scroll to the bottom and click on Apps with usage access and click on that.

Click on Play store! (Not shown because of other apps)

Now unclick "Permit usage access" and back out.

Look at all that it allows! 馃槨

Our phones and computers track everything we do.馃憥

@Peaches Not mine!

It takes quite a bit of doing with out rooting your cellphone yet some anonymity can be done if you are willing to keep on turning off certain apps and permissions.

Or out right disabling certain google and certain system apps. Like disabling GPS totally! Not just settings GPS. There are system apps as well like "fused location".

Are you in the UK ? I read a similar post about a week ago on SW by someone who lives there.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@Wraithorn no, US.

@DeWayfarer Well, that is interesting !
So both the Uk and US are now doing this without permission from their own citizens.
That is unsettling to say the least.

@Wraithorn yes it is. I saw this on a rerun of Fox news.

It's true, I found it in my settings. The thing is, they introduce all this step by step incredibly slow, because on its own it seems like nothing, but combined its orwellian.

@DeWayfarer I've never heard about that haha

@pianoplayingsteve Are you familiar with USENET? They were a free uncensored USENET provider that allow some binary downloads. When Google took over any kind of binary including images, was stopped.

See links on my profile for Google's USENET access. Have them solely because they were tracking back then and still are from thirty years ago! 馃槨

No other current USENET provider does so. Retention span is only at 6 months for the best of the best of current USENET providers.

@DeWayfarer I'll look it up after my walk :) See you, in an hour!
