Anyone just watched the SpaceX Dragon dock with the ISS over China?

Bloody brilliant! Love it!

What is so special about this?
hasn't space craft docked with the station all the time?

@Ruthler First private company to produce a spacecraft to do all this, and fully automatic apparently. It’s a fantastic achievement, and will lead to a lot of more far reaching voyages. Back to the moon, Mars, moons of Jupiter & Saturn...

@Oneofthestormboys wasn't the previous cargo craft also automatic?
and didn't they dock a dragon ship already?

Might have been - I’m not sure. Apparently NASA has had to pay Russia’ space agency £70 million for each astronaut on the Soyuz rocket, so it makes sense to try to find another solution and pool their resources with a private company. I expect their budget has been cut so much that they can’t do it on their own anymore. @Ruthler

@Oneofthestormboys I honestly don't know how much money space x has been saving if at all.
They haven't been very open about that despite it being their number 1 selling point.
