I am by no stretch of the imagination a medical expert, but I researched this when my late mother was experiencing migraines.
As I understand it the trigeminovascular system delivers oxygenated blood to the brain. If it fails at that or underperforms, it is thought that may result in headaches/migraines.
I have a similar problem with a heart valve. If my magnesium levels are not topped up, I just...run out of oomph. I take magnesium for a few days and feel bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again.
Perhaps they are looking for (or have found) a way to stimulate that system and reduce migraines.
