Which Chemical Element Describes You Best?

@ArishMell Contrary to the statements found in many chemistry textbooks, gold is not appreciably soluble in mercury, unfortunately.

@ArishMell Gold is more dense than mercury though. If you throw a piece of gold into a bowl with mercury it will sink.

@helenS Well, funnily enough I have a small bottle of mercury. No gold though to try it with.

@ArishMell Even a very small mercury bottle is surprisingly heavy! The weight of 100 mL mercury is 1.35 kg.

@helenS I've not measured it but that probably is the amount I have. I was thinking of making a barometer but don't have the long glass tube I thought I had.
