Do you believe in peer review?

I was watching some show about Sasquatch hunting and the lead guy was enthusing about this being prime Sasquatch environment. His (peers) fellow Sasquatch hunters nodded furiously in agreement. I thought to myself, "Given that you have never seen a Sasquatch how would you know if this is prime Sasquatch environment or not?". So much for peer review.

You know damn well that isn’t science. So stop offering up non examples.
When someone captures a cryptid, or discovers a fossil record......that is something very different.

Peer review is something you clearly have no understanding of,

Spread you ignorance to your flock of the fleeced.

It doesn’t fly in the face of reality.

@Texasgurl Oh but it is. Too bad you can't see it. Oh well there are none so blind as those who will not see. You seem to be that kind of blind person.
Not 20/20. Far from blind. Anyone can say they are approaching a subject in a scientific manner.
Whether it’s a real study, with real testing protocols etc is something very different.

You are trying to reduce the field to people playing with 2 cans and a string.

It’s like ghost hunting 🙄@hippyjoe1955

@Texasgurl You wouldn't know science if it bit you on the butt. You think it is an academic exercise where you prove your point by getting a few buds to put their name to your paper. Too Funny. I read one guy's confession where he had sold his name on various papers for a fee. The papers were still published even though the guy had no expertise in the subject.
Science is observation and testing.
Can results be replicated and how often?
One test doesn’t move a needle or turn the world on its ear.
Procedures have to be reviewed.

Regarding the fraud..
That doesn’t happen often.
There is an extraordinary amount of paid “research” which isn’t science at all.

The reputation is all you have at that level. Your career is at stake.

You make extraordinary claims, you need extraordinary proof.

You are a tiresome old fart.

@Texasgurl Actually it happens a lot. Witness evolution and climate change and ineffective vaccines and..... Yeah it happens a lot.
Bring the proof!? What do you read?
Chronicles of higher ed?

@hippyjoe1955 Did you buy in on the vaccination thing too Joe?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Kwek00 I bought in on science. If it works use it. If it doesn't why bother. Some vaccines are life saving 'wonder drugs'. Others not so much. If you rush out to get a flu vaccination each year you have likely been indoctrinated in the cult of scientism and are just following its dictates and showing your allegiance to the cult. The vaccine certainly doesn't work.
