What do you think about the Internet of Things?

IoT is the phenomenon where everything such as every day objects can connect to the Internet (smart fridges, etc). Why does a fridge need Internet? Only the geekiest of Makers/tech geeks care. Reminds me I have an Adabox for IoT laying around.
