iPhone 7 headphone jack

Why are people so worked up about the fact that the iPhone 7 does not have a headphone jack?
Do people not understand that with time technology moves on and the old has to go to make way for the new?

Apple are including a set of headphones you connect to the Lightning socket and an adaptor so you can use your old headphones so why is everybody so worked up about this
Wireless headphones are not the only option.

Phones have a limited amount of space so the company must make use of every centimetre they can so if they can get rid of the headphone jack and free up space for more things that means they could put in better batteries or add new features this sort of thing.

So long term it is in the interest of phone buyers to loose the headphone jack and I am sure the Androids will eventually follow Apple example so why are people so in love with their headphone jack?

As for me I can safely say I will not be buying an iPhone because I have fallen in love with a second hand LG flip phone somebody gave me.
I used to have an iPhone 4 but not any longer now I like my LG better because much more stylish, good battery life and does everything I need like making calls and texts.

You lost me with the lie about making way for the new. The only new thing they did was make proprietary wired headphones.

It's the world slimmest phone. Thats novel too
Why make it slimmer? So it's more fragile? I'd rather have it a little thicker with better battery capacity.

@SooperSarah: buy a power bank. Perhaps girls want to be slim, so this phone attracts girls.😂😂
Pay a fortune for an overpriced phone and then have to buy more accessories to make it usable in the real world. I'll pass

@SooperSarah: yeah that's true. It is overpriced for it's specs.😎
SooperSarah

Do you not think it makes more sense to get rid of the headphone jack which is about 30+ year old technology it it will free up space in the phone for other things as long as it is still possible to connect wired headphones in another socket

@SooperSarah: yeah that's true. It is overpriced for it's specs.😎
There is actually very little difference in price between the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy 7. the high end phones have always been pretty similar in price
It's .2mm thinner than the 6. Hardly worth getting excited about. It's just another way for Apple to make everything proprietary. What if I want to use the headphones I already have and charge the phone?
Samsung added multiple cameras for an iris scanner and still managed to keep the headphone jack. What did apple add?
SW-User
@SooperSarah: yaah..they don't even give full apple. The apple logo is like someone has already taken a bite.😂😂
@SooperSarah:

I have a feeling the iPhone 7 is about testing new technologies and getting the public used to things like no headphone jack and the revolutionary new phone will come out next year on the tenth anniversary of the iPhone

Its next years phone thats going to be interesting I think

@sam90degree:

Yeh but at the pace technology moves nowadays before you even got it home it is old tech so somebody took a bite
@HEREISME: so they didn't add anything? maybe they should try something like adding removable storage. Of course it won't be an SD card though. Apple will need to invent it's own storage to sell you first.
@HEREISME: apple used to be innovative. They've lost that edge. That's why they're competing with blackberry for marketshare while android runs away. The market dictates what people want. Apple obviously isn't it anymore.
Apple can't doing to badly considering how many millions of phones they sell.
Android is a more popular OS because its free so many companies use it and Apple do not share their OS.
By number of individual phones sold though Apple come out tops.

Don't go from near bankruptcy to being the most valuable company in the world with more money than some small countries if people do not like your products

I think we are slowly reaching a point where the amount of technology we can fit in those boxes is reaching its limits and everybody copies each other always have.

Apple had Siri and now Android and Microsoft have their own versions of Siri, Apple started the idea of a sealed unit so you cannot replace the battery and the others then did the same thing.
Samsung started the idea of a proper smart watch and so Apple then introduced a watch of their own.
Androids were offering expansion ports and Apple realised that 16GB was not enough for their entry level phones so substantially increased memory on all models with the 7 because they realised the public wanted more.

They do not use SD cards because they want people to buy the phones with the bigger memory capacity because thats more expensive but they are a business.

Everybody copies each other on most things but also keep some individual features unique to them.

I think in general alot of people take which phone they have to seriously it is a tool not something to get all emotional about.

One thing I do find very funny is how people care so much about which colour the back of the phone is like is it gold or black but then as soon as they get the phone they put it into a case and you cannot tell anymore what colour back the phone has
Samsung actually passed apple in sales with the release of the galaxy 7. Wasn't it apple that put a C after the model number just to offer more colors? Apple only cares about how much it can get from the sheep that blindly follow and fork over their cash "because it's apple".

It's true apple might not be doing too badly. But they're by no means leading the pack.

@SooperSarah: no, nexus 5x google is best

@SooperSarah:

Samsung
Apple
Microsoft
Google
LG

All the phone manufacturers make their products to make money for the company nobody does it because they care about the consumer thats just sales talk.
All those companies exist for the purpose of making money and thats why their products are expensive... and they use the business tactics they do.

Also why do people get so emotional over phones I mean if you like iPhone then buy an iPhone and if you like Sansung buy a Samsung should live and let live let people get what they think is best for them instead of criticising each other because they did not buy the same one.

Still though the big uproar about the headphone jack is silly because technology moves on and since the stone age there has been out with the old in with the new

Stone
Bronze
Iron
mechanising
mass production
digital
Things keep moving on and always will do so we just have to learn to live with change instead of trying to fight it
@HEREISME: of course they exist to make money. They don't all do it the same way though. Apple makes you pay them for every single accessory you buy because they have everything locked down and proprietary. That's my beef with apple.
Android sells you a phone you can do anything you want with.

As for the headphone jack. Why eliminate something that has been standard, universal, and working for years? It's because it's universal and apple can't make money off it.
@SooperSarah:

Apple has its business model other companies have theirs no rule says they must operate the same way.
As for the jack I think within the next 2 years everybody will have dropped the jack they will not use Lightning obviously but they will have headphones that connect a similar way and that assume they even give you wired headphones because if the bluetooth ones are cheap enough by then they will just give you free bluetooth and there will be no wired option

Don't know if companies will be offering wired ones or not but I think its safe to say everybody is going to ditch the headphone jack
Apple are the ones who are going to get the initial criticism but they will soften people up to the idea and then the other manufacturers will follow in Apple footstep because its no longer controversial idea
@HEREISME: I strongly disagree that they will all ditch the headphone jack and come up with something different. Imagine needing different headphones for every device you own because they're isn't a universal fit anymore. The problem with Bluetooth is your phone can only connect to one device at a time. That means no connection to your smart watch or fitness tracker or anything else while listening to music. And they only hold a charge for so long.
@SooperSarah:

The androids will probably replace the jack for mini USB or whatever it is they use to charge their phones now Apple will remain with Lightning and all manufacturers will provide adaptors for people who want to use older headphones.
Even Apple are giving an adaptor free of charge with the 7 so everybody will do that until the time comes when they remove the option for wired headphones which everybody will do eventually especially because as designs change its not always practical to keep some things like the jack

I think the iPhone 7 is a technology test model and softening people up to change for Apple that and these changes will become standard in future phones

You just have to look at how phones have evolved and you see things we never thought we would see happen does happen.
If we were making the phones we could do it the way we liked but because we do not we just have to make do with what the company offers even if we do not like it.
@HEREISME: you don't have to make due if you don't like it. That's a perk of free markets. There's always somebody else with a different option. Only a fool would make due with something they don't like.
