Stupid smoke detector chirps even with a new battery

so I just disable it of course

I have heard that when the sensor becomes contaminated with dust it can cause them to chirp. The remedy is to suck air through them using a vacuum cleaner, to clean the sensor.

@ms20182878 I'll try that, thanks, it does get dusty in here with the wood stove.

@ms20182878 or blow it out with compressed air. I used to do commercial building maintenance and thats how we cleaned them. You can even spray with contact cleaner let dry and then compressed air. Make sure it's unplugged if you. Use contact cleaner.

@goodlil666 Do I have to take it apart, or can I just blow the air in the vent?

@SW-User I would try it first without disassembling it.
