Wifi adapter problem?

Been having problems with my laptop wifi. It won't stay connected. I have updated the software. I have plugged in an Ethernet cable to troubleshoot.

It'll work for like a minute then stop again.

Anything else i can do to remedy the issue or must it go to a repair shop?

@ Perth Surfer Yes i do. The laptop is the problem..

Do i need to change settings on the router or on my laptop once hooked to ethernet. i cant do the former, the router isn't mine .

@iamnikki It's the settings on your router to change, but if it's not yours then i guess you can't change it.

@SW-User why would i need to do that? Everything else is working on the wifi including the other house computer....

@iamnikki I didn't realise that until i saw your comment to @MethDozer. So now that we know it's your laptop that really narrows the solutions down. It still could be an interference issue that's just with your laptop, but the wifi card in your laptop could be having issues. One way to test that is if it's possible to take your laptop to another wifi and connect to it and see if you have the same problem.

@SW-User so if it does connect to another wifi...then it's the router? Cant be. I may just take it to a shop. Sick of this laptop.

@iamnikki I was thinking that if it does connect to another router without dropping out then it's possibly a signal interference issue. If it was a router problem then the other devices you have connected to it would also have a problem.. well you'd assume. Troubleshooting technology can be a pain that's for sure.
