Wifi adapter problem?

Been having problems with my laptop wifi. It won't stay connected. I have updated the software. I have plugged in an Ethernet cable to troubleshoot.

It'll work for like a minute then stop again.

Anything else i can do to remedy the issue or must it go to a repair shop?

Are you on the 5Ghz signal? If so switch to 2.4Ghz signal.

@MethDozer no idea. Where do i do that and how?

@iamnikki Usually in your available wifi connections you will have two options with your wifi ID. One for 2.4 and one for 5. In some systems you have to go into connection settings and tell the machine to connect to one signal or the other.

%ghz is faster a little bit but it isn't as robust at propagating a signal and can get dropped or make dead spots from "shadows".

@MethDozer it says no connections available

@iamnikki Reset your router. If that doesn't work call your provider for a new one.

@MethDozer the router isnt the problem my laptop is. I have 2 other devices working properly on the wifi

@iamnikki Your wifi card is messed up it sounds like. Unless it wont connect to the router through the ehternet cable. Then we are in deep waters that can be a few things all of which hard to diagnose over text.

If it does connect with the ethernet then you could just get a cheap wifi dongle and put it in a USB slot.
