Can I "unspoof" phone numbers? If so, how?

I have been getting several calls from scammers, but the number that comes up on the caller ID is not their real number. It is spoofed. Is there anyway to reveal the true number so I can either not answer, trace or report the number? I can't change my number due to the large number of business and doctors that I deal with.

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize or in my contacts list. Block them, they may use another number, but they don't have an infinite set of numbers. Google the number, it will tell you if it's a scam, or a "legitimate" robocall. If the latter, then your google search will probably return a web site you can go to block all calls from that source.

I would be curious if this is even possible. I would think the scammers are using VOIP so maybe having our carriers find ways to block IP addresses some how....

Happens to me all the time. The men from Pakistan and India are constantly calling. They scammed me out of some money years ago but my bank got most of it back. Now they won't leave me alone and follow me everywhere. 🙄 I just unplug my phone now. ⭐️ I won't change my number and DO have a cell phone they know nothing about, ha! 😜 If you can't leave your phone unplugged then maybe get a cell phone.

@Peaches Yeah, I do have a cell. I'm sorry you have been having so much trouble. It seems as if it is getting out of control. I saw it on the news yesterday that an elderly woman was a victim a spoofed phone scam. Personally, I think that spoofing probably needs to be banned because of all the people abusing it… Well, at least figure out how to track the bad people, I mea all of the technology and there's nothing that they can do to track the bad guys? 🤔

@sweetiepoo I KNOW?! I've been stalked by these guys for years now! 👎🏼

I just block the number when that happens

@sweetiepoo true. And I think that the calls become more frequent when you answer them too.

@SW-User hmm. thanks, that's good to know. kinda sucks though cuz I have to answer calls I don't know for business purposes.

@sweetiepoo yeah. That does suck. But what I said is just a theory. :/
