Are you or have you ever had problems with your Mac charger falling apart?

I ask this question because after 2 years I developed a small slit in my MacBook Pro charger. I didn't put any electrical tape on it and my cord got worse. Now, most of the wire is exposed and is fraying. As much as I didn't want to pay $80 bucks for a new cord, I didn't want to buy a knockoff due to battery malfunctioning, but I think this issue has already affected my battery. I looked online and there are many people with a similar issue. It's believed to be a design flaw. I'm thinking if there are enough people who are experiencing this problem, then we all can bombard Apple as a whole and have the material of the cord to be made with a stronger, more durable material. Personally, Apple is beginning to irk me. Their "top of the line" brand" is laughable now. I've never had an issue with the cord of my PC cords tearing and disintegrating.

Apple sucks. Not in quality but how they treat you like dirt for not buying their newest overpriced product. If you don't upgrade your OS then your obsolete. But if you do upgrade your OS and end up bricking it, they don't care a bit about you.

Well, it’s still made in China...
Go on Amazon and you can get new ones for like $14. I've gone through three in my last year.

Check Louis Rossmann channel on youtube, you'll never want to buy an Apple product ever again.

@LesserUgly I don't want to risk buying an off brand. I'm scared that it will mess up my computer. When I had a PC, when I needed to replace the cord, I bought one with a higher wattage or whatever you call it, thinking it would be better.. It ended up killing it.
@sweetiepoo no, don't buy off brand. Check the make and model, and make sure they match up. Nine time out of ten it is either loosening of the cable or a bad connection. I was an aircraft electric technician for six years. I found this is a problem in all electrical fields. Shoddy workmanship.
Yes, I had to replace it in less than a year. But there are replacement chargers from amazon for a fraction of the cost that work great.

@bijouxbroussard Use caution with replacement parts for USB-C type chargers (for the MacBook Pro). There is a way to subvert security using the data-enabled cable.

Best course of action is to bring your stuff into an Apple store as SOON as it starts to act poorly.

I got AppleCare for all my mac's and in each case, it's paid for itself.

@JoeyFoxx "it's paid for itself." Does that mean you've had a lot of issues with Apple so you had to keep taking it in?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@sweetiepoo It means that I have multiple Apple devices. I've had post-warrantee issues with a couple of them and having AppleCare worked well for me.

It's a coinflip, admittedly, with only one device. But with more than 3 devices, well worth it.
