These days it has to be Japan. In the 1950' s and 1960' s it was UK

Germany. Hands down.
Japan has produced some classics but, they all tend to be rather homogeneous and kind of "plasticky".
Italian cars, for the general population, tend to be of poor manufacture. Even their exotic marques can be more than a little temperamental.
The Brits have some cool brands; Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin. But they are either owned by German brands or by consortiums of foreign investors.

@room101 Interesting take.

@MrBrownstone One of the things that Germany has, which sets it apart from other nations (other than their national obsession for detail, accuracy and quality in manufacture), is their autobahns.

No speed limits! This means that German cars have to be built to be driven to the max. Because they will be.

@room101 That obsession goes all the way back to ww2.

@whowasthatmaskedman As was Saab.......before GM brought them out and destroyed them 😒

Ford bought Volvo, to do their safety R&D. but luckily sold them again. I believe a Chinese group now own them but leave them alone to do what they do best.@room101

@whowasthatmaskedman True enough. Sadly, GM didn't extend the same courtesy to Saab.

In terms of reliability Germany and Japan but Italy in terms of design
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Dlrannie Like your thinking.
Germany? Japan? I honestly don't know too much about cars.

@MrBrownstone they are like pick up trucks but made like a sedan with a tray replacing the boot and back seats.
They can drift real nice too especially a v8, ford makes utes too but I’m a Holden fan.
it’s here too, but now our Holden’s and fords are made in Germany rather than here. Although the ford falcon 1971 GT-HO series were the fastest 4 door car in the world in its time.
My dad owned two of these out of 500 of the phase one models made.

Japan. German were great once.

@destinysfortune Cars are becoming more a commodity product. Japanese cars are probably not made in Japan any more and the biggest BMW plant in the world is in America.
If you want a cheap car it is Indian or Chinese. but 25% of the parts in US vehicles are Chinese as well.
