Is the oil from various kinds of fish flammable? I ask because it is video game related and I am trying to compare vs real life.

HINT: All those oil lamps you've seen...? Originally run on WHALE OIL.

@GwydionFrost so weird I'm even seeing this. A friend earlier today showed me pics of an antique oil lamp that took him a bit to get going. I don't believe he used whale fat though 😬

@Peaceful LOL... I wouldn't use it, either. Gotta refine it first...! :P

@ArcaneAlex Oh, you've seen many oil lamps in your life... maybe just not real ones. ;)
Sources of fuel for oil lamps include a wide variety of plants such as nuts (walnuts, almonds) and seeds (sesame, olive, castor, flax). Also widely used were animal fats (butter, fish oil, shark liver, whale blubber, seals).
@ArcaneAlex Oh yes... oil lamps have been around almost as long as wicks and candles.

@ArcaneAlex ...and suddenly, the sappy song, "You light up my life" becomes a dark tribute to those who were sacrificed to keep the midnight oil burning...

...wait, that wasn't funny enough...? Hang on--

Suddenly, America's obesity problem can be explained as "restocking the oil reserves".
