Can you believe this ?

I was just reading a news report about how a 7 yr old girl in the UK was being groomed (in a sexual way) by an AI (artificial intelligence) online. The police couldn't prosecute anyone because it's an AI. That's just a little bit insane isn't it ?.

Someone is in charge of the AI, it was created and let loose? Come on I don't believe that. The sexual predators are getting slicker.

@cherokeepatti I'd like to know more details too. Here's a link if you're interested.

@Wraithorn Well if it was in the UK that's a big pedo-predator place with links all the way to royalty, Jimmy Saville was knighted by the queen and he was implicated in a huge scandal that came out after he died.

@cherokeepatti Trying to groom children without getting caught, making them easier to pluck up and use for their own perversions...one less step to get caught in.

@cherokeepatti That indicates careful planning and forthought. That in itself is shocking.

@Wraithorn Artificial intelligence is being embedded into toys now, parents should be aware of that if they are thinking of buying electronic toys for children, yikes, it is frightening.

@cherokeepatti No it was created by a scientist and left alone. People don't know how chat bots work, chat bots get their speech from all available sources on the internet. Including but not limited to chat logs, messages, forums, websites etc.

The chat bot probably didn't even know they were talking to a little girl really. It could have been anything that sparked the conversation and could have just been coincidence taking from old messages on some other random website.

For all we know that "chat log" and what it said could have been said between two adults having an erotic conversation years ago, a month ago, yesterday etc..

Like a human learning appropriate behavior by studying the actions of members of his or her social group, Cleverbot "learns" from these conversations. It stores them all in a huge database, and in every future conversation, its responses to questions and comments mimic past human responses to those same questions and comments.

If, for example, you were to ask Cleverbot, "How are you?" it will look back to the many times it has asked or been asked that question to retrieve a fitting response. And, because it's pulling up an answer that a human has typed, the response will sound mostly human (at least in theory).

The key to Cleverbot's success is that it doesn't respond solely on the basis of the last thing typed, but keeps track of words and phrases that have come up in the conversation already. As Carpenter explained, "It looks back to the whole conversation and says, there are maybe tens of thousands of people who have maybe responded to 'how are you?' in the past; which of those tens of thousands of responses is most suitable to use this time?" [How Do Calculators Calculate?]
