Boredom or interest, where time drags or speeds by
sogdianrock · 61-69, M
hi Literaturegirl
Yes that is my experience also. It is odd then that apparently more new memories as when young also slow down the perception of time. Time flies for older people making fewer new memories. Still boredom makes Time slow while it is being lived but in the longer term feels faster. The opposite with exciting life feels fast at the time but in the longer term lots of new memories makes that life period seem a longer time period.

@sogdianrock Interesting... The older I get the more I want to do. This year has sped by but I remember as a child how the school year dragged, seemed to take forever to end!

That perception of how when as a child the school year dragged yet all was new is the paradoxical mechanism at work. Time seemed to pass slowly yet many new memories being made as first experiences are increasingly hard to come by as we age. Life as a child is exciting yet Time felt like it passed slowly as we lived it. I wonder why this was so?

@sogdianrock I wish they'd taught this at school and emphasized that not knowing was OK as we were learning! The human condition and the mind are fascinating

haha I wish school had never been invented! Institutions are bad for the mind which needs freedom.

@sogdianrock True freedom scares people... And we need some containment and training. The curriculum is being criticised for failing to help prepare for life... I rarely went to school 😉

Boo! haha fear is a sensible response. Freedom is but not as terrifying as conformity.
That you rarely went to school is obvious due to your delightful freedom of mind!
Sure we must contain and focus ourselves.

I scare easily!😉Fear is our friend. Agree conformity is terrifying! See thank you. School was a prison for me and I had to escape. The mind organizes
sogdianrock · 61-69, M
Hi Literaturegirl
sorry did not mean to make you jump!
The mind does not organise of it is organised by others. The strongest prisons are inside the mind. It is vital to own your own mind. School is a dangerous place!

@sogdianrock Ahem... The mind does indeed organize, which is why it's important to understand it and why/how it does what it does...Awareness helps to prevent manipulation by propaganda. Best not to take anything at face value but to use the mind to question. So yes esentisk to own one's own mind... but there is collectivism too
School is a place of social control. C minus could do better!
