The astronomical odds don't help my opinion on it. However we hardly have any kind of acceptable sample size for life on planets. Mars had bacteria, so that's the only other example we've got to create an idea of what's required for it.

@hippyjoe1955 Wasn't there bacterial remains found there in ice cores?
