Norwegian Landslide
A landslide occurred on December 30th in the Norwegian town of Ask; northeast of the capital of Oslo.

The ravine created by the landslide was estimated to be approximately 700 feet (213 meters) wide and 2300 feet (701 meters long).
As noted in the video, the area is underlain by something called quick clay. It is a fine-grained sediment and can be firm as long as it is undisturbed. If overloaded or disturbed, however, it flows like a liquid; causing the loose grain structure to collapse.
Norwegian official advised against building in this area. Homes were constructed there despite the warnings.
