Cave of the Crystal Giants...

The Naica mine in Chihuahua, Mexico is best known for its extraordinary selenite crystals. They are some of the largest ever discovered - reaching 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter and 50 feet (15.2 meters) in length.

The magma beneath the cave makes it unbearably hot and humid. As a result, the cave remains largely untouched.

It reminds me of some scenes from the Jules Verne classic, "Journey To The Center Of The Earth (1960).

Wow, what a place to visit. Have you ever been to the salt mines in Poland?
sciguy18 · M
@pennynoodles I have not been to the salt mines in Poland. Have you?

They should ban removing any of those crystals to preserve that beauty.
sciguy18 · M
@diablesse Luckily, the environmental conditions are such that the general public cannot gain access. I believe only researchers are allowed.
