Sounds like a joke but this is a serious theory on why women have boobs.

It's a huge debate in the scientific world as to why women have evolved to have breasts. People have said various things but none of them really hold up. For example, some people say it's to feed infants... But there are plenty of A & B cup women who feed their infant just fine.

I've heard some people say "women had to evolve a butt on their chest" (lol) which is... partially right, but a "butt" isn't the right example.

IMO women evolved breasts to throw off the male gaze. It's been scientifically proven that when we (male or female) look at people or faces, our eyes have a pretty specific pattern. We mostly use an upside-down, triangular path that hops between both pupils and the mouth of the person we're looking at... UNLESS... you're a man looking at a woman. Then, suddenly, that pattern changes and involves the breasts. That triangle turns right-side-up and we look at both breasts and the face to judge attractiveness, maybe giving a little more leniency to the face in return for bigger breasts.

So, instead of evolving a "butt" on their chest, women evolved two "eyes" on their chest so we spend less time looking at the face and more time looking at the figure.

It's also been proven that women spend more time looking at faces than men, which helps support everything I just said.

Please laugh with me and not at me. 😐

There's no such thing as a "reason" here. It's a result of intraspecific competition. Similar to the long noses featured by proboscis monkeys, to impress the ladies.
@helenS Don't proboscis monkeys have a reason for having a long nose?

@SinlessOnslaught You might consider asking one...
@helenS Just trying to understand what you're saying.

@SinlessOnslaught when it's about biological evolution, there simply is no reason, just chance. There is no plan, no goal, no direction, no why and what for. The interplay between chance and necessity results in what a species looks like.
Female breasts just developed, and apparently those with bigger breasts had a higher chance of reproduction than those with smaller ones, apparently because males were more attracted to them, just like female .proboscis monkeys are more attracted to male monkeys with bigger noses.
Big-breasted women are still more popular today, in general. I'm rather small-breasted, I could tell you stories.
@helenS Okay but there has to be a reason, too... A reason that men are attracted to breasts. That's where my post comes in.

@SinlessOnslaught Enjoy being attracted to female breasts, enjoy the sight, enjoy how they look and feel, enjoy sucking them, but really there are no reasons. Likewise, there are no reasons why those female monkeys like big male monkey noses. I chose my example carefully.
@helenS What stories did you want to tell me?

@SinlessOnslaught As a small-breasted woman I had to notice often times that my bustier female friend got all the attention from men.
@helenS Personally I don't care about breast size. It's the woman they're attached to that matters.

@SinlessOnslaught You've overcome your biological restrictions! 🌷

@helenS It's all by chance but there is most certainly a reason. The mutation happens by chance, but it becomes part of the larger gene pool from reason. That's evolotuion in the simplest of terms
